Research Given the absence of any convincing explanation for the tonal difference between gold and silver heads, I have examined the following facts in cooperation with the Institute for Quantum Mechanics at the Technical University of Innsbruck. The pipe vibrations (natural frequency) generated by flute playing are not perceived as tonal energy; instead, they extract energy from the tone (i.e. from the permanent wave which expands inside the pipe). Since the respective, natural frequency ranges of gold and silver vary widely, differing overtones are also filtered from the flute tone. The result is a distinct tonal characteristic, which can now also be proved through a respective experiment. This has opened up previously never-thought-of ways to improve my heads.
